Here is a northwest view from the Observation Deck of the Louisiana State Capitol Building. You can see the Mississippi River as it flows southward. The Mississippi River rises at Lake Itasca in Minnesota and flows south, meeting its major tributaries, the Missouri and the Ohio rivers.
